DEKRA

arconsis was entrusted with the development of a machine learning application for automatic text recognition. The automated processing of vehicle registration documents successfully relieved the DEKRA engineers in their daily business.

Google's TensorFlow was used for machine learning in the environment of language and image processing tasks in order to model and train neural networks. DEKRA uses automatic text recognition internally on Android devices. The data capture process was significantly accelerated, furthermore input errors reduced to a minimum. dm – glückskind Coupon-App

The dm subsidiary dmTECH GmbH entrusted arconsis with the development and implementation of the glückskind Android app for paperless couponing. Users of the glückskind app have the possibility to download advantage coupons via app, activate them on their phone and redeem them directly via customer code at the checkout in the dm store.

Furthermore, arconsis supports dmTECH on software architecture topics, design, build automation and organizational recommendations for maintenance as well as development of new functionalities and apps such as the “Mein dm-App”. FreshIndex

What is FreshIndex? The real-time freshness indicator. The FreshIndex functions as a new best-before date for food instead of the static best-before date (German: MHD). Its use offers a significantly better-quality assessment and reduces food waste along the entire food chain.

What we do?

• Trust and credible data exchange through the use of blockchain and EPCIS
• Detailed storage history including temperature data since production of the batch, pallet or unit
• Dynamic control of hygienic conditions through the intuitive FreshIndex

FreshAnalytics

What is FreshAnalytics? The Fresh Analytics research project is developing an app to reduce food waste.

With “FreshAnalytics” the project “FreshIndex” goes into the 2nd round. The project "FreshAnalytics" aims to develop a digital base system for uniform data management along the food chain and to provide a food-specific tool library. This provides a more accurate dynamic best-before date as a supplement to the current best-before date (German: MHD). Building on this, further data-based value-added services are being researched and validated. These will provide concrete help in optimizing logistical processes, handling recourse claims and sales/out-of-stock management.

KIT: Student workshops

Within the scope of the seminar "Practice of Software Development" (PSE), students of the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT) get practical insights into the development of iOS and Android applications. PSE is part of the bachelor’s degree program "Computer Science". The Students choose a practical project to apply the knowledge they have acquired so far. Already since 2012, arconsis has been offering KIT computer science students the opportunity to gain insights into mobile software engineering as well as native iOS and Android development. The students learn how to practically apply software design and quality assurance procedures, build up implementation skills and teamwork.

We are happy to support the students to gain practical insights and to be better prepared for working life after graduation.
